Stud Welding Metalworking Fastening Systems

Stud welding metalworking fastening systems have been provided by Sunbelt Stud Welding for many years now.

Capacitor discharge stud welding and Arc stud welding grant the manufacturing world a much stronger, much faster and even a less expensive fastening system for all metalworking.

Stud Welding Increases Durability

Stud welding is a cross-sectiontional, full penetration weld, which increases the durability of any fastener for metalworking. Hundreds of different studs & fasteners can be stud welded for adding strength and helping any project to be completed in a fraction of the time.

Contact Sunbelt Stud Welding at (800) 462-9353. We are your solution for an very large assortment of fastening system and fastener choices.

How Stud Welding Works

There are differences between capacitor discharge welding and Arc welding, but both provide a reliable and fully cross-sectional weld.

Capacitor Discharge Welding

Once a fastener is put against a work foundation and the weld gun activated, stored energy is then discharged through the fastener to create the weld. This will melt the entire diameter of the base section and even a portion of the parent material for the stud weld. The spring-loading forces the stud welded fastener into molten metal. An instantaneous weld occurs that did not even take an entire second to perform.

Compared with other welding equipment processes, the time to be saved is extraordinary. The cross-sectional weld improves the quality of your weld and the strength of the weld dramatically.

A CD fastening system is especially good for thin metals. Additionally, there is not any reverse-side marking that occurs when using CD stud welding equipment.

Stud Welding with Arc

Arc stud welding is a fastening system that works with an equal amount of speed and also creates a cross section weld with extreme durability as CD welding does. It is better for larger diameter fasteners though.

The fastener and the ceramic ferrule are both put on the work space. A weld gun when activated will initiate an electric arc that is controlled and that melts the fastener end, as well as a part of the base or parent metal when it is triggered.

A ceramic Arc shield concentrates heat and also keeps molten material in the stud welded section. At the precise moment the fastener and base metal are molten together, the fastener is then immediately plunged into a work surface. The fastening process does not take any time past that exact moment to be fully durable and complete.

Stud Welding Applications and Metals

The industry list that utilizes stud welding metalworking fastening systems is comprised of an extensive number of industries, from furnishing to refractory to even aerospace. The list is quite long.

Stud welding is very effective for metals such as mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, zinc, brass, iconel and more. Call us at Sunbelt Stud Welding today at (800) 462-9353 and learn more about the many ways we can assist your company!
